To help protect your PC with these viruses, install an anti-virus software and make sure you have it updated regularly. You can also set it to scan your system in a given schedule to make it more efficient in detecting infected files every now and then.

- Learn about spywares and adwares, and learn how you can be free from them. If you love surfing the net or you have been doing a lot of transactions online, it increases your risk of getting spywares and adwares which can slow down your computer's performance. With the boom of internet marketing, a lot of advertisers are desperate to reach out to potential clients that adwares are all over the internet these days. Aside from compromising your privacy, these can also slow down your computer's speed. Mak sure your firewall is properly installed and set up. If you can add an anti-spyware to your PC, the better.

- Clean and fix your Windows registry. If you are running on a Windows operating system, your PC will have a registry which will store data, codes, and references on anything that you do in your computer such as installing a program or visiting a web page on the internet. As you move and uninstall programs, you end up having registry errors, not responding programs and many other problems that may arise as your registry stores tons of information on your computer. Even if you do uninstall some programs, you may still have some references to them stored in your registry. Thus, if you want to avoid this problem, fix and clean your Windows registry with a registry cleaner. Take note too that even if how desperate you are in learning how to improve PC performance, do not manually delete and change anything on your registry. This may cause more errors in loading your operating system and you may not be able to use your PC.

- Delete some unused files and obsolete programs. If you have been bugged by your slow computer, you might want to go ahead and delete some files you have that you may not be using in the near future or programs that you don't use anymore. You can also transfer some of your files into discs or online storage sites to free up disc space for your computer and allowing it to run faster.
