Superfoods for Sinusitis Relief

It sounds like a big scary condition, but sinusitis simply means that your sinuses are inflamed. It's also a problem that causes much discomfort. Millions of people are affected by chronic sinusitis. There is an entire pharmaceutical industry for just this affliction alone. Sinusitis can have many symptoms. To name a few: fatigue, fever, a severe cough (especially at night), nasal congestion, a runny nose, and post nasal drip.

All hope is not lost however. If you suffer from chronic sinusitis, you may benefit from something know as superfoods.There are a multitude of superfoods that you can add to your diet to boost your vitamin C levels. To name a couple: broccoli, spinach and tomatoes.

The B-complex vitamins are really a grouping of 8 vitamins, made up of thiamine (B1), (B2), (B3) and folic acid (B9), and are central for a healthy nervous system, processing carbohydrates for energy, and the creation of red blood cells. Organ meats, beans, whole grain cereals, oatmeal, potatoes, salmon, bananas, and spinach are only some of the numerous food members of the vitamin B group with high levels of this group of nutrients.

Another necessary vitamin found in superfoods is vitamin E. Nuts, vegetable oil, leafy greens, and fortified cereals are good places to find vitamin E. Cardiovascular disease and cancer bay be linked to damage from free radicals. Vitamin E has been shown to help promote a strong and healthy immune system.

There are other more short term solutions to your sinusitis you can try. Vaporizers can be very helpful in relieving some of your sinusitis symptoms. Nasal saline spray can aid also. It can be found at any drugstore. Some sort of localized heating device, such as a water bottle filled with warm water, or a compress can sometimes help as well.

You will want to avoid cigarettes and other air impurities if you are particularly sensitive to sinus disorders. If you are prone to sinusitis, alcohol will cause your sinus membranes to swell and make it worse.
