The biggest problem when starting a new website design for your business is usually, how much is it going to cost you, compared to the return on your investment?

Sadly, the majority of business owners will learn they need to invest much more money into their business website design before they ever break even. A typical web designer will usually inform you of what you need to hear in order to spend money for starting your new website. But what they may not tell you is how to market your new site and get it in front of the prying eyes of your potential customers. 2. You will also need to hire or implement compelling and persuasive copy starting with your heading. A persuasive heading is what you will use to draw your potential customer into your website and start the process of building trust. The more compelling the copy, the longer they will stay on your site, and the more trust you will build, hence the more sales you will make.
3. You must have a call to action. If you own an appliance store, your call to action may be something as simple as: Call now to get your free toaster valued at $50. Only 17 left. Don't just have your phone number on your site, rather give people a good reason to call you.
4. Ask the web designer if they have immediate strategies for obtaining instant visitors to your website that they implement themselves as part of your package.

As a website designer and professional copy writer (writing compelling and persuasively) I see it all the time where business owners invest thousands and sometimes tens of thousands of dollars into a new website design that is not going to bring back a decent profit. By investing in a website that looks good (so to speak) you may find that you end up with one incredibly good looking web site but that's where the buck stops. My point is a good looking web site is not necessarily going to make you any money.

Things to look out for in a new website design are:
1. Flash...you do not want flash on your website if you can help it because Google and other search engines can't see flash. The search engines are looking for content. More importantly they are looking for relevant content on your website that is related to the searches (potential customers) enquiry.
2. Scroll bars on your site where you can scroll up and down from within the site itself. This is another thing the search engines don't like on any website design.
3. Do not stuff your copy full of the main key words. Only use them at a 3% insertion rate is my rule. So every three hundred words you will use your main key word about three times.
4. Do not ever use any black hat techniques to get listed in the search engines quicker than normal or you will pay the price and get yourself banned. The search engines are very smart and they now hire some of the most intelligent people on the planet. Keep it honest and white hat as its known in the website design industry.

Here's what will happen when you follow the right path to owning a highly profitable website. Your new website design will be easy to navigate by the potential customer; it will have powerful, compelling copy with a super impressive heading that will pull your reader in and a call to action that gets your phone to ring and your online sales to go through the roof.

Owning a profitable website design starts with by the right questions of the designer (do they understand how to market your new site?), keeping an eye on the progress of your new site and implementing the above mentioned strategies. Remember there is only one reason a business owner is having a website built and that reason is to make more money for their business. A business will never want a site that doesn't make money, so focus more on the systems mentioned above rather than getting caught up with the best looking website design.
